Scenic Byways

The drive from Cody to Yellowstone is one of the most beautiful drives. We also have the South Fork of Cody where you can see gorgeous mountains, big horn sheep, the occasional elk, moose and bear. North of Cody there is the Dead Indian Pass which connects to the Beartooth Pass. These drives are breathtaking and worth the trek.

Cody is full of many arts and entertainment activities throughout the year. Our community is blessed with multiple community theater opportunities, art galleries, and concerts in City park during Aug/Sept. The Cody Cattle Company is a dinner and show fit for the entire family that runs June 1st - Sept 24th.

Cody has many different tour companies. Cody Trolley Tour will give you 100 years of history in 1 hour. There are Yellowstone tours, and Wild Mustang Tours. There is Old Trail Town, Buffalo Bill Dam Visitors Center, Cody Firearms Experience and much more. The town of Cody is full of family friendly activities and something for everyone to enjoy and experience Cody’s western community.

Buffalo Bill Center of the West

Center of the West admission includes five museums, all under one roof! Explore the Center on your journey through Yellowstone and the West! This museum has everything for every member of the family. The Firearms Museum has over 10,000 artifacts and completely redesigned galleries great for firearms enthusiasts and casual visitors. The Draper Natural History Museum takes you through all the layers of the Yellowstone Ecosystem and is very interactive (look, listen, feel). Stop into the Plains Indian Museum has stories of Plains Indian culture, traditions, trials, and triumphs past and present. Buffalo Bill Museum has possession’s from Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley and you can explore thrilling stories of the American West. The Whitney Western Art Museum is an art-lover’s dream. View timeless classics from Remington, Russel, Moran, and Bierstadt or browse selections from today’s world-renowned western artists. There is always a special exhibit section that rotates throughout the year. Make sure to check out all the programs offered by the museum as well, especially the Raptor program where you learn about live raptors that the museum cares for.

Cody Night Rodeo

Since the turn of the century, rodeos have been a part of Western culture. In Cody there is a nightly rodeo that runs June 1st - August 31st. The rodeo is family friendly and great for all ages. Here you can see bronc riding, bull riding, roping and more from local and traveling competitors. Cody also holds the Cody Stampede every year which is a PRCA event starting June 30th with Xtreme Bulls, July 1 - 4th the PRCA rodeo. Tickets for June 30th - July 4th usually go on sale in mid April and need to be purchased ahead of time. Tickets for the nightly rodeo do not need to be purchased ahead of time as nightly rodeo does not sell out.

Outdoor Recreation

Cody is known for its many historical sights however there is lots of outdoor recreation in our area. From River Rafting to Horseback riding Cody is full of options. We have multiple river rafting companies that do a wonderful job and help you enjoy the Shoshone River and more in our area. Horseback riding can be done through many different companies in the Cody area and each one has a unique trail set and experience. There are multiple lakes in the area along with the Buffalo Bill Reservoir where you can kayak, swim, paddle board and more. Don’t worry about bringing your own kayak or paddleboard as there are rentals available in Cody. Hiking in the area is spectacular and there are many trails for different level hikers.
